Nagaland cabinet okays recruitment of constables

In a major decision, the Nagaland Cabinet in its sitting today has given approval for recruitment of constables in Nagaland Police and other six departments in the state.

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister (In-charge of Home & Border Affairs) Y Patton informed this to media persons on the sideline of an official programme at PHQ Kohima. He said that the State Cabinet has agreed and approved for recruitment of constables in Nagaland Police including Prisons, Forest, Home Guards, Civil Defence, Fire & Emergency Services and Lokayukta.

Patton informed that it will be done through the Department Recruitment Board and representatives from the P&AR.

There will be 3 years age relaxation as recruitment is taking place after a gap of 3 years, he informed.

On being asked about the Nagaland Government’s view regarding the recent move by the Government of India to abolish the Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the Myanmar border, Patton said that the State Cabinet will discuss the same. “We will discuss in the cabinet,” he said.

He also informed that Nagaland along with other North East states bordering Myanmar is going to discuss the matter and approach the central leaders. The meeting is yet to be fixed, he said.
