
Autorickshaw driver killed on the spot, two car occupants injured
Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): A car rammed an autorickshaw from behind, killing the driver on the spot, and grievously injuring two others at 6th Mile, National Highway-29. It happened around 11am on April 27 near JCB showroom.
As per a press release from the Dimapur police PRO, information about the accident at around 11:04 am.
It said that the car (Baleno) rammed into the back of the Piaggio autorickshaw, pushing the auto to the left side of the road and then ramming a footpath railing on the side. The impact reportedly propelled the driver out of the left side killing him on the spot. “The auto driver sustained head injuries above his left ear which led to his immediate death on the spot,” it said.
The driver of the Baleno and co-passenger, who turned out to be his wife, were also grievously injured and were rushed to CIHSR Hospital, 4th Mile, along with the deceased victim, who was declared “brought dead,” it added.
The police identified the deceased as Abdul Malik (45 years) of Chutiya Gaon, PO/PS Lahorijan, Morigaon district, Assam and was a resident of Burma Camp, Dimapur. The deceased is survived by his two wives and two children aged between 10-12 years, it said.
The mortal remains of the deceased was handed over to his family members upon refusal of Post Mortem after observing all necessary legal formalities.
This incident has been recorded under relevant provisions of law at the Chümoukedima Traffic Control and is under further enquiry, it the PRO release further informed.
