Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement Day observed

Dimapur, September 13 (MExN): Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement (NCYM) observed September 11 as NCYM Day in different parishes and centres. NCYM Day is an annual event which falls on second Sunday of September every year. On this day, the youth gather in their own respective parishes and make the day memorable with various programmes and activities, informed a press release from Regina Kithan, Spokesperson, NCYM.  

The release said that SFS Parish Kohima observed the day with N. Nicolas Khatsii, former NCYM president, speaking on the theme “Commitment”. The Southern Angami Catholic Youth Association organized the NCYM Day programme at St. Xavier’s Church, New Reserve, Phesama, where youths from Phesama, Jakhama and Kidima parishes participated. St. Paul Church, Peren observed the day with the theme “Remember your creator in the days of your youth.”  

Meanwhile, St. Mary’s Parish, Lakhuti observed the annual celebration by organizing a prayer service. St. Joseph’s Parish, Chumukedima observed the NCYM Day with the theme “Merciful like the father” (Luke 6:36) and St. Xavier’s Parish, Meluri conducted a two-day programme on music class cum competition to commemorate the annual NCYM Day. Other parishes also observed the day.

  The release mentioned that the NCYM is the apex Catholic youth body of Diocese of Kohima. Its vision is to uphold the Catholic faith among the faithful and to co-ordinate the youth activities at the Diocese level. The Movement was originally formed as ‘All Nagaland Catholic Youth Association’ on June 3, 1990 (Pentecost Sunday) at Mt. Tabor Retreat House, Kohima. Its nomenclature was later changed to Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement.
