Nagaland celebrates 58th Statehood Day

Kohima, December 1 (MExN): The State of Nagaland celebrated its 58th Statehood Day at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on December 1. The event began with the review of parade by DGP Nagaland John Longkumer IPS.

A DIPR report stated that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio undertook the General Salute and delivered the Statehood day speech. March past was performed by 4th NAP Bn, DEF Kohima, STF, 15th NAP Mahila Bn and PTS Brass Band. Parade Commander for the event was Deputy Commandant 4th NAP Watichujang Jamir NPS and Second-in-Command was Asstt Commandant 4th NAP Lucy Yhome NPS.

Dimapur: In Dimapur, the day was celebrated with DC Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan taking the general salute from three parade contingents at DDSC Stadium.

Delivering the Statehood Day speech, the DC remembered all those leaders, who by their sacrifices, foresightedness and determination ensured the creation of Nagaland State with special Constitutional provisions as the 16th State of the Union of India on December 1, 1963.

He said that the state since its creation have made significant and enduring achievements to show on every field. “We have seen development and progress, and the quality of life enjoyed by our people has seen a marked improvement, though many challenges still remain,” he said.

On Naga Political issue, he said that the negotiations between the various Naga Political Groups and the Government of India have seen a breakthrough with common ground being reached on various issue and expected everyone to continue with same spirit of understanding and oneness for moving forward to the eventual solution without any delay.

Highlighting different initiatives being taken up by different departments for all round development, DC mentioned the extraordinary situation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and the substantial improvement in the health facilities to deal with COVID-19 cases. He also mentioned the cooperation and active support of the people in controlling the spread of the COVID-19 while also reminding the threat of the pandemic that still exists.

In his speech DC mentioned the launching of 'LaunchPad'- a career guidance and skill development programme by department of Youth Resources and Sports. Partnership with YouthNet, distribution of Kharif and Rabi seeds by Agri department to ensure that farmers do not suffer due to COVID-19 restriction.

He also said that, though the state have come a long way since it's creation, having been able to build good capabilities to n every sector there are many developmental areas and sector where a lot remains to be done. Therefore, called to continue with persistent efforts to ensure that Nagaland is at par with the rest of the states in the country.

Parade contingents for the day included Commissionerate of Police, 15th IRP Mahila Bn and 15th IRB Mahila Bn Pile Band and ABI, Commissionerate of Police, Dimapur Neichuzo Rio was the Parade Commander.

Zunheboto: Zunheboto district observed the 58th Statehood day at local ground Zunheboto. Deputy Commissioner Peter Lichamo took the salute and read out the Statehood day speech. The highlights of the speech included COVID-19 pandemic covering the dos and don'ts, preparedness of the state and various other details of the ongoing pandemic. The speech also remembered gratitude to all those leaders, who with their sacrifices, foresightedness and determination ensured the creation of Nagaland state with special constitutional provisions as the 16th state of India on December 1, 1963.

Phek: Phek celebrated its 58th Statehood Day celebration 2020 at Phek Town in Local ground. Sachin Jaiswal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Phek as special guest who also delivered the statehood day speech. After the function the District Planning Development Board meeting was also held where the DC called upon everyone to be attentive in their duties for smooth conducive atmosphere of our district in particular and the state as a whole.He also thanked all the members for their cooperation and their support in times of hard times caused by COVID-19.

Peren: Peren and Jalukie observed 58th statehood Day Celebration at Deputy Commissioner office Complex, New District Headquarter and ADC Headquarter Jalukie. General salute and unfurling of the national flag was done by DC Peren who also read out the Statehood Day speech. A special song was presented by Keyi Zeliang at District Headquarter and short speech was delivered by ADC, Dr. Tinojongshi at Jalukie. Declaration of the results of Online quiz competition of district level was also held at Jalukie.

Pfutsero: The 58th Statehood Day celebration was observed at Pfutsero. The programme was held at ADC office compound Pfutsero, ADC Pfutsero Phuleshe K Yepthomi took the salute and read out the Statehood day speech. The celebration was held following the Covid19 SOP protocols which was attended by department officials and public leaders.

Tseminyu: The 58th statehood Day was observed at Additional Deputy Commissioner office premises Tseminyu with Tsutsowe Kupa, NCS SDO (Civil) Tseminyu as special guest who has read out the Statehood day speech. The programme was chaired by Rosy Sangtam EAC (Tsongi) under Tseminyu Sub-Division. All the heads of department attended the programme.

Medziphema: The 58th celebration of Nagaland Statehood day was celebrated at ADC Office Complex Medziphema, Sub-Divion, with Additional Deputy Commissioner Medziphema, Thsuvisie Phoji delivering the Statehood day speech. The 11th NAP (IR) Bn Ruzaphema led by Parade Commander Inspector W. Tiatemjen Ao took part in the celebration. The celebration was attended by selected Head of the Departments.

Pughoboto: Pughoboto Sub Division celebrated the 58th Statehood Day at the ADC Office compound. The tri colour was unfurled by the SDO (C) Longasen Lotha and took salute from the DEF Pughoboto. He also read out the Statehood Day speech. The program was attended by the officers and DBs, GBs and others.

Tening: Tening Sub Division under Peren district observed 58th statehood day with rest of the state at ADC official residence Tening. Tumben P Tsanglao, Extra Assistant Commissioner unfurled the national flag which was followed by reading of the Statehood day speech. Government official from different departments, GBs and public leaders attended the statehood day celebration programme.    

Changtongya: 58th Statehood Day was celebrated at Changtongya Headquarter at SDO (C) office complex with Moakumzuk Tzudir SDO(C) Changtongya as the chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag, delivered the Statehood Day speech and took the salute from O/C Police Station contingent, followed by National Anthem.

Meluri: The 58th statehood day was observed at local ground Meluri. ADC Meluri Temjen Chuba read out statehood message, which was attended by all government employees and head of offices under Meluri sub-division.

Bhandari: 58th Statehood Day was celebrated at Bhandari sub division at Additional Deputy Commissioner office premises. Sulanthung SDO(C) took salute from Nagaland Police (NP) Bhandari and delivered the statehood day speech. The occasion was attended by head of offices, Dobashis and Government employees. Dr Riku Khutso EAC Bhandari chaired the programme.
