Kohima | May 14

Mother’s Day was celebrated across the state today.

In the state capital Kohima, special programmes were held in all the churches through lectures, prayers and offering gifts to mothers. Children were also seen presenting gifts to mothers as a symbol of acknowledging their love and care.

Mother’s Day is a celebration of honouring mothers for their love and affection and their influence on society. Bringing up a child through giving birth, and helping him or her grow up into an adult is considered to be the essence of motherhood. It is a challenge in itself, as she has to go through countless hardships in the process.

Mother’s Day is an occasion where the child and society remembers and acknowledges the essence and the effort that goes into giving birth and rearing a new life. This is a special day for children as well as the mothers and they get an opportunity to relish the everlasting bond of love and affection between them.

St Xavier’s Kidima

St Xavier’s Catholic Church Kidima joined in the Mothers’ Day celebrations with Reverend Father Thomas Muttathil, Parish Priest, Kidima as main celebrant. Special numbers were performed by Edikunu Patricia, Kidima Catholic Youth Association and Fathers’ Association with Golden Jubilee Committee. The celebrations ended with a fellowship meal.
