The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Nagaland, in collaboration with the State Council of Educational Research & Training Nagaland, Kohima organised the Pariksha Parv 6.0 at Fernbrook School in Wokha.
Inspired by the Prime Minister’s “Pariksha Pe Charcha” the event aimed to provide a platform for students, teachers, and parents to discuss the significance of exams and strategies to alleviate anxiety and examination pressure while supporting children in managing stress.
Dr Zavise Rume, a Professor at SCERT, emphasised Pariksha Parv as a Festival of Examination, propelled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He underscored its role in providing children with an opportunity to express and showcase their abilities to the world through examinations. Dr Rume shed light on the prevalent issues of stress, anxiety, and depression among students, attributing them to the lack of proper training in exam writing. He noted that a staggering 95% of Indian students are devoid of adequate guidance in this aspect, contributing to heightened levels of stress and anxiety.

Akumla Longchari, a member of NSCPCR, emphasised the importance of changing the perception of exams from stressful events to celebrations, akin to festivals. She highlighted the staggering number of students in India facing academic pressure, leading to stress-related issues and even suicides. Longchari urged parents and teachers to foster closer relationships with students to mitigate exam stress. Additionally, child rights were underscored during the discussion, with attendees from various departments, schools, and organizations in Wokha participating.
In his brief address, Alun Hangsing, Chairman, Nagaland State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, underscored the parental concern for their children's well-being and emphasized the importance of providing a safe environment. He highlighted the initiative's goal of Pariksha Parv is to foster a festive atmosphere during exams to enhance children's experiences.
Dr Zavise Rume chaired the programme and Rashamo Tsopoe, School Administrator of Fernbrook School Wokha, delivered the welcome speech.
