Kohima, January 7 (MExN): The Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland V Shashank Shekhar has cautioned against creating or circulating fake news with regard to the conduct of the Nagaland Assembly Election, 2023.
Taking cognisance of ‘viral social media messages’ regarding the announcement of date for the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election, the CEO issued a clarification stating that his office “has not issued any such news and the messages being circulated currently is fake.”
“The date and timing of the Nagaland Assembly Election, 2023 will be notified by the Election Commission of India,” the CEO stated while appealing to the public to abstain from creating and circulating such fake news.
“Anyone found to be intentionally creating/circulating fake news will be dealt with as per the relevant provisions of the law,” it cautioned while advising all to rely only on official press release or statement from the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland.
