KOHIMA, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam convened a meeting of all Administrative Heads of Departments and Heads of Departments (AHoDs/HODs) at the Secretariat Conference Hall in Kohima on October 15.
During the meeting, Alam addressed concerns regarding poor attendance among heads of offices at district offices. He emphasized that all heads of offices should remain in their assigned locations and that proper notification must be communicated to HoDs if they are on leave or away for official duties. "All government employees are paid to provide services to the people," he stated, urging heads of offices to maintain their presence.
Alam called on all departments to register in the biometric attendance system and reminded HoDs to closely monitor attendance at both directorate and district offices. He requested that HoDs issue circulars to their respective heads of offices to ensure strict attendance monitoring.
He also encouraged departments to adopt the attendance app currently used by the Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports to enhance attendance tracking.
Looking ahead, Alam announced that the Hornbill Festival 2024 will be celebrated on a larger scale, marking its 25th edition. He expressed hope that ongoing reconstruction and renovation efforts at Kisama will be completed in time with the support of allied departments.
Alam informed attendees about two statewide mass social work initiatives scheduled for October 21 and the third week of November, ahead of the Hornbill Festival. He requested cooperation from line departments such as PHE, PWD, and Police to provide manpower and vehicles for these activities, which will engage public participation alongside government departments.
Addressing delays in departmental projects, Alam urged all concerned departments to take project timelines seriously and complete tasks as scheduled.
He reminded stakeholders of the Finance Commission's visit to Nagaland from November 2 to 4, 2024, emphasizing the significance of the Commission's recommendations for the state. He urged all AHoDs and HoDs to be present during this visit.
Alam highlighted the importance of capacity building and training for senior officers, encouraging them to enroll in upcoming training programs and stay updated on executive business rules.
The meeting also covered issues related to departmental court cases, and Alam reminded attendees of the upcoming PRAGATI meeting scheduled for October 30, 2024. The members also shared their suggestions and feedbacks during the meeting.
