Nagaland: CHILDLINE Mon 1098 to be active 24x7

Mon, October 16 (MExN): CHILDLINE Mon 1098 has been launched with the hope to “be active 24x7 to rescue the child in need of help.” The team will respond to the call within 60 minutes, stated a press release received here. 

Announcing the inauguration of CHILDLINE Mon 1098 on October 16, Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS stated that Mon being one of the districts with “maximum number of children working outside the state as domestic helpers,” CHILDLINE Mon can play a very crucial role for their welfare. 

The DC congratulated the CHILDLINE Mon team and John 3:16 Society for initiating the task to give protection to children in need of care and protection.

Earlier, Hamkai, Director John 3:16 Society, Mon speaking on the importance of the day said that Childline is a 24x7 service to provide for the protection of children from different cases like physical abuse, sexual abuse, abandoned children, missing children etc. Anyone can dial toll free number 1098 and guaranteed to receive immediate assistance, he assured. 

Khuppao Hengna, District Welfare Official, Mon spoke on the importance of CHILDLINE.  Longpok Lemtur, Additional Superintendent of Police assured to provide assistance from the police in any activities and cases related. Lomei, President, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) shared on the origins of child abuse in different forms. She guaranteed to give support and awareness in the community and block levels. Tuishimla Konyak, Chairman Child Welfare Committee (CWC) spoke on the foundation of CHILDLINE and importance of parent’s role to bring the child in the proper direction. 

The programme chaired by Chingom Konyak was dedicated by Rev N Sheipa. Eunice Thalih, Coordinator CHILDLINE Mon delivered the welcome speech. She also informed that the DC is the Chairman of the Child Advisory Board (CAB) which will be constituted and intimidated to different officers and stakeholders for close collaboration.
