Nagaland CM graces Aoleang Monyu festival

•    Urges to preserve the institution of Angh

•    Announces 5 crore for Mon-Namtula road construction

•    Inaugurates new Konyak Union Office building

The Konyak celebrated its Aoleang Monyu on April 4 at Local ground Mon Town organised by Konyak Union with Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, Chief Minister as the chief guest and Sapu Batthacharya, Director NEC Energy Pvt. Ltd as the guest of honour.  

Dr. Shürhozelie, addressing the festival said that he is happy to join the Konyaks on this important day in celebrating the Aoleang Monyu. He added that though the world is changing fast, he requested the Konyak people to keep the institution of Angh pure and in positive way also to preserve the sanity and order of Angh.

He also said that with the advent of Christianity for sometime the Nagas could not give due importance to the development of our culture, but now we have started to recapture our culture which is a very encouraging. “Every Nagas are incomplete without their festival, their culture and traditions,” the CM stated.  

“Instead of being in the transitional period, in the midst of all this changes the Nagas love historical background and culture,” said the CM while adding, “Towards the end we are better than other tribal around the world because in Nagaland people have realise the historical root and culture.”  

The CM also expressed that he wants all Nagas to live as family with “no backward, no forward but as one family as the backward tag effect the psychology of living.” Therefore, he requested the younger generation to remove the “backward tag” and let the Nagas move forward as one.  

During the occasion, the CM also announced saying that the Government of Nagaland has provided 5 crore for construction of Mon-Namtula road this year and also it is declared as National Highway. In this regard, he request the public leaders to come and see the workmanship when the work contract comes because the Government has spent in terms of crore in road constructions but it fails when the contractors become careless and look too much to their own profit. He urged the leaders to use the money judiciously for which it is meant to be used.  

The festival witnessed the cultural warrior display performance by Sheanghah Union Mon Town and the cultural show display were performed by Chen Nokten Union, Mon Union,  Totok Union,  Longching Union, Tang union,  Wakching Union, Longkei union, Shangyin, Chi Union and Hongphoi Union.   Earlier the Chief Minister, Nagaland also inaugurated the new Konyak Union Office building.
