Following a record-breaking collection of Rs 122 crore in April, Nagaland recorded Rs 65 crore in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in May 2025, according to state-wise GST revenue data published on the GST portal.
Compared to the same month last year, the May 2025 collection reflects a significant increase of 46%, rising from Rs 45 crore to Rs 65 crore.
The April collection was the highest-ever monthly GST revenue for Nagaland since the implementation of the GST regime in July 2017.
With this, the State has collected a total of Rs 187 crore in the first two months of the 2025–26 financial year.
Of this amount, Rs 82 crore was collected by Central GST authorities, which included Rs 32 crore from Central GST (CGST), Rs 38 crore from State GST (SGST), Rs 10 crore from Integrated GST (IGST), and Rs 1 crore as compensation cess.
As of May 31, 2025, the taxpayer base in Nagaland stood at 11,048—of which 4,449 were under Central jurisdiction and 6,599 under State formations. This marks a slight increase from the 11,019 taxpayers recorded in April.
It is worth noting that the May data does not include GST on the import of goods.
Meanwhile, India’s total GST collection for May 2025 reached Rs 2.01 lakh crore, reflecting a 16.4% increase from Rs 1.72 lakh crore in May 2024. This is the second consecutive month that GST revenues have remained above the Rs 2 lakh crore mark.
In April, India registered an all-time high GST collection of Rs 2.37 lakh crore—a 12.6% increase from Rs 2.10 lakh crore collected in April 2024.
