DYRS hosts Athletics Meet 2023 in Kohima

In commemoration of the forthcoming National Sports Day, the Department of Youth Resources & Sports Nagaland today organized Athletics Meet 2023 at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima.
Eight educational institutions in and around Kohima joined the meet in 100m race, 200m race, high jump, 4x100m mixed relay, long jump and 4x100m relay.
Declaration of the meet was done by Kethosituo Sekhose, director, Youth Resources & Sports Nagaland.
Sekhose informed that National Sports Day, is celebrated on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.
The occasion serves as a reminder of the 'Fit India' theme, encouraging widespread engagement in sports for physical and mental well-being, he said.
Sports Day envisages to inspire youth to embrace sports and cultivate a healthy lifestyle.
It serves as a platform to showcase the accomplishments and potential of Indian athletes across diverse sports disciplines.
Additionally, National Sports Day is an opportunity to honor and acknowledge athletes, coaches, and administrators for their significant contributions to Indian sports.
