Pen down strike till November 1
Dimapur, October 18 (MExN): Protesting the non-payment of salaries and Performance Based Incentives of 105 Community Health Officers (CHOs), the Nagaland Association of Community Health Officers (NACHO) has launched the second phase of agitation staring October 18.
Earlier in a public notice dates October 11, the Association had announced ‘phase-wise agitation starting October 11 to 17, wherein the affected 105 CHOs would continue total cease work under the slogan ‘No Pay, No Work,’ indefinitely until the issue is resolved.
“The unaffected CHOs will show solidarity through wearing of a black badge on all official duty and programmes” during the period, following which the Association would “move forward to further intensify agitation if the issue is not resolved within the stipulated period,” it had said at the time.
Accordingly, on Tuesday, NACHO President, Semakchang and General Secretary, Chumrenthung N Ezung informed that there has been “no official response and positive outcome from the department (Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland and NHM (National Health Mission), Nagaland)” even after the October 17 deadline.
“The NACHO held an emergency meeting on October 16 where they decided to initiate the 2nd phase of agitation commencing from October 18 and will extend till November 1, 2022 and further drastic measures will be initiated if no solutions is met,” the Association stated in a press release.
As per the release, the mode of protest would include ‘total cease work’ by the ‘affected CHOs under 15th FC,’ while the unaffected CHOs would observe ‘pen-down’ agitation.
“All forms of vertical documentations and reports currently documented by the CHOs shall be halted,” however, lateral documentations (records and registers, referrals) are exempted from the purview of the pen-down agitation, it added.
The Association meanwhile urged the department to solve the issue without further delay.
