Nagaland conducts PM SHRI Schools State Level choir competition

The Nagaland Education Mission Society, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland today conducted “PM SHRI Schools State Level Choir Competition '' at RCEMPA, Jotsoma near Kohima.

Government High School Thahekhu bagged the first position while Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School Mokokchung stood second position.

Altogether, nine government schools from four districts joined the competition.
Other seven participating schools includes; Government Middle School Tuli C, Govt High School Wokha village,  Government High School Burma Camp Dimapur, Government Middle School Old Ralan, Government Middle School Showuba Old, Government Middle School Phiheku and  Govt High School DC Colony Peren.

Nagaland’s school education and SCERT advisor Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Samagra Shiksha state mission director Temsunaro Aier also present at the event.

‘There is no room for mediocre people anymore’
Addressing the gathering as the special guest, Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) project director Dr. Hovithal Sothu said that PM SHRI School for Rising India has initiated this choir competition as “They see talent in you. They see your energy and vibrancy.”

“There is scope in music and arts if you are willing to work hard,” he said. There is no room for mediocre people anymore in this world, he said and encouraged the students to work hard in their hunt for excellence.

He said that TaFMA targets good singers from across the state and endeavour to push them up to the national and international arena.
“We are popularizing music in Nagaland because our students are talented,” said Dr. Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director & State Nodal Officer PM SHRI School, Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland.

Delivering keynote address, Dr. Rio said that PM SHRI School was launched in 2022.

PM SHRI School intend  to nurture students in a way that they become engaged, productive, and contributing citizens for building an equitable, inclusive, and plural society as envisaged by the National Education Policy 2020.
Khyochano TCK, Director, Music Academy Kohima (MAK) briefed the journey of schools mentoring towards PM SHRI Schools State Level Choir competition.

Ethnic Future rendered special performance at the event. The event was compered by Susan Angami. MAK assisted the competition as resource and mentor partner.
