Dimapur/Kohima March 17 (MExN): Different Congress organisations in Nagaland have lauded the party leadership for allotting the ticket for the Nagaland Lok Sabha Constituency to S Supongmeren Jamir and have pledged to work towards securing his victory
Jamir, the current president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), on March 8, was nominated as the Congress candidate to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha election in the state on March 8.
Nagaland is voting in 1st phase on April 19.
Expressing its appreciation to the party leadership, the NPCC stated that the entire Congress family in Nagaland is firmly in favour of the decision and is committed to ensuring that his candidature receives the most persuasive campaign.
The NPCC further appreciated Jamir for not only the well-deserved recognition of his exceptional leadership but also for accepting the challenge in the true fashion of a leader who leads from the front.
Congratulating Jamir, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Seva Dal declared that the party is prepared for battle, and the foot soldiers of the Congress party will spare no effort in combating the divisive forces of the PDA government.
It further also commended the Congress Central Election Committee, led by Mallikarjun Kharge, for granting the ticket to Jamir.
The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) Nagaland also expressed appreciation to the Congress Central for allocating the party ticket to Jamir.
Since assuming office, the party has undergone significant transformation and has flourished under his capable leadership, the NSUI stated.
Despite the severe electoral defeat in the previous election, the last few months have witnessed numerous prominent individuals joining the Congress party in Nagaland, a testament to the groundwork laid by the NPCC president.
The NSUI pledged wholehearted effort to ensure the victory of the Congress party in Nagaland, it added.
The Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) welcomed and pledged full effort to give a tough fight and ensure victory for the INC candidate. They stated that people are truly fed up with the NDPP-BJP government in the state and the communal BJP government at the center.
