Nagaland continues upward trend in COVID-19 cases

The total count for COVID-19 in Nagaland rose to 359 on Wednesday as 29 more persons tested positive for the virus. Of the fresh cases, 15 persons are from Kohima, 2 from Zunheboto and 12 are from the Jakhama military cantonment.


The state also reported 7 more ‘recoveries’ from COVID-19 on June 24, taking the number of recovered cases to 148 after remaining unchanged for two days. 


With this, the total number of active cases in the state now stands at 211.


As per the daily briefing on COVID-19 by Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha, “All the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals.”


All the cases are said to be asymptomatic.


The daily bulletin from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, Peren district has the highest number of cases at 83; Dimapur has 38, Kohima 48, Mon 23, while Tuensang and Zunheboto districts have 3 cases each, as of 3:00 pm on June 24.


With the cases from Jakhama cantonment, Kohima’s total number of cases now stands at 60. 

 

10322 tested so far
As per the briefing on Wednesday, a total of 10, 322 samples have been tested out of which results of 8,914 samples have been received. Of these, 7,156 samples have been received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK), till June 24, and a total of 5,936 samples have been tested. 


Further, it said that a total of 3,348 samples have been tested by Truenat. Out of these, 31 samples tested positive and were sent for confirmation by RT-PCR while 2,799 samples have tested negative and the results of 518 samples are awaited.
