Nagaland cop tests COVID positive in Delhi, undergoing treatment

A Nagaland Police personnel posted in Delhi has tested positive for COVID-19. According to official sources, the unnamed person is a Naik in the 7th NAP Battalion, a unit of which is currently deployed in the national capital. “He complained of body ache and loss of appetite. As a precautionary exercise, he was taken to hospital yesterday (May 21) where he tested positive for COVID-19,” informed a source.  He added that the patient, in his 40s, was immediately relocated to a COVID-19 hospital. His condition was said to be stable. Sources informed that contact tracing is on and other personnel, who came into contact with him directly or indirectly, have been isolated.


The Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha officially confirmed it in the evening today. “A Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) of Nagaland Police posted in Delhi tested positive for COVID-19 at RML (Ram Manohar Lohia) Hospital, Delhi” on Thursday night following complaint of mild symptoms, Sinha informed in his daily COVID-19 update. 


He added that the patient was undergoing treatment at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital and recovering well. 12 other Nagaland Police personnel, who were in close contact with the patient, were traced and their samples sent for testing. Another group of police personnel, who were on patrol duty with the patient, have also been placed under Institutional Quarantine at Kashmere Gate, Delhi, Sinha said.
