With just five days to go for the 19th edition of the Hornbill Festival, departments and agencies are working round the clock for the ten days long celebration starting from December 1.
Daily cultural performances
The State’s Art & Culture Department will be presenting daily cultural performances at the main arena- Naga Heritage Village Kisama.
Art & culture Additional Director and HoD Chubala Sangtam, informed that cultural troupes from all the tribes within and outside the state will be arriving soon to showcase their colourful traditional attires with lively songs and dances.
Artists’ Corner at the World War II museum Kisama and Hotel Saramati premises, Dimapur will display and sell art works, demonstrative arts and live sketching, painting exhibition, art competition, slideshows.
Archives exhibition will showcase collection of selected historical documents from public and private records with reading facilities for interested students, scholars and researchers and sale of departmental publications at WW-II complex.
The World War II museum will be opened to the public from 10:00 am to 4:00 am daily to create awareness on the historic events, importance of artifacts and relics of the past life to the younger generation.
8th Hornbill Half Marathon 2018
3E Nagaland informed that registration for 8th Hornbill Half Marathon 2018 has started at 3E office near Kohima Local Ground (North Gate).
Registration will continue till November 30.
The half marathon will cover the international standard distance of 21.0975 km for both men and women categories. Prizes for two categories stands at; Rs. 50,000 (1st prize), Rs. 20,000 (2nd Prize), Rs. 10,000 (3rd Prize) and Rs. 5000 (4th Prize).
The event will be officiated and certified by Nagaland Athletics Officials Club. It is supported by Tourism Department with Colours Graphic Kohima as baggage tags and number bibs sponsor.
Overseas runners and those from outside Nagaland can register online through correspondence over Hornbill Half Marathon Facebook page or email.
Floral Galleria, sale of horticulture products
The state’s department of horticulture will be holding floral galleria- exhibition –cum- competition of flowers and on-spot fresh & dry flower arrangements from December 1 to 10 at Hortiscape, Naga Heritage Village Kisama.
The department will also be presenting exhibition-cum-competition of fruits, vegetables and spices, sale of flowers (cut-flowers, potted flowers, succulents etc, sale of departmental farm produces (Orange/ Mosambi/ Kiwi/Mushroom/Lemon etc), exhibition and sale of horticulture machineries and sale of horticulture produces.
Attractive cash prizes have been set in all categories.
Entry forms have been made available at Directorate of Horticulture, Kohima. Receipt of exhibits is from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on November 30.
Hornbill international photo fest
The department of information & public relations and Eastern Art Council and supported by tourism department is presenting Hornbill International Photo Fest from December 1 to 10 at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.
The contest is open to all with the theme “Colours of Nagaland.” Prize: Rs. 40,000 (1st prize), Rs. 20,000 (2nd Prize) and Rs. 10,000 (3rd Prize). There will also be 2 consolation prizes of Rs. 5000 each.
The fest will also include photo contest for junior category on the theme “Mood” or “Emotion.” This contest is for Class X students and below: Rs, 10,000 (1st Prize), Rs. 5000 (2nd prize) and Rs. 2000 (3rd Prize).
