Nagaland COVID-19: 8 new case; Mokokchung registers first case

Nagaland reported 8 fresh COVID-19 cases Tuesday morning as the infection spread further in the state with Mokokchung registering the first case. 


State Health and Family Welfare Minister, S Pangnyu Phom updated by on Twitter that 8 new cases were detected on June 30 – 6 from Jakhama Army Hospital quarantine centre (QC) and one each from Kohima and Mokokchung QC. 


With this, the status at 10:30AM on June 30 officialy stood at: 459 total cases -291 active and 168 recovered.

 

Meanwhile, the new case from one of the QCs in Mokochung was confirmed this morning by the Biosafety Level (BSL) -3 laboratory in Kohima. 

 

The postive case pertained to a person who reached Dimapur on June 20 by flight. The returnee went to Mokokchung the next day and tested postive on June 27 in a Truenat test while under quarantine.

 

The sample, thereafter, was sent to Kohima for second confirmation test on June 28.

 

The confirmatory test report from the Kohima BSL-3 laboratory, according to an official, was received this morning (June 30).

 

The patient is asymptomatic and currently receiving treatment at COVID-19 Care Centre Mokokchung, the official informed.
