Nagaland: COVID-19 cases rise to 732

The number of COVID-19 cases in the State went up to 732 today as 59 new cases were detected in Nagaland on July 10. 


Of the 59 new cases, Kohima recorded 20, Peren - 19, Dimapur - 18, and 1 each in Wokha and Phek. 


Data released from the Department of Health and Family Welfare informed that there are now 428 active cases in the State and 304 people have recovered so far. 


Meanwhile, Peren continues to be the most affected with 139 active cases as of 3:00pm of July 10. This is followed by Kohima with 87 active cases, Dimapur with 83, Mon with 73, Tuensang with 29, Phek with 12, Mokokchung with 3, and Wokha and Zunheboto with 1 each.     

 

HPC rejects proposal for total lockdown in Khm
Meanwhile, the High Powered Committee (HPC) for COVID-19 has rejected the Kohima DC’s proposal for a total lockdown of municipal areas in Kohima. 


In a letter to the DC, the Principal Secretary, Home said that the HPC conducted a meeting on July 10 to discuss the proposal and after taking into consideration the views of all concerned, including the Department of Health & Family Welfare and all the relevant facts, has decided that total lockdown as proposed “may not be warranted for now in Kohima municipal areas.” 


It rather advised that the DTF Kohima may strictly follow all the protocols of the containment plans for all such areas where positive cases have come up. It also called for rigorous contact tracing and listing, active surveillance and other necessary activities for preventing and containing the spread of COVID-19.
