Nagaland COVID-19 update

786 samples test negative, results for 62 awaited
KOHIMA, May 9 (MExN): 848 samples have been sent for COVID-19 testing from Nagaland State, of which 786 samples have tested negative. Results for 62 samples are awaited as of 3:00 pm on May 9.
Principal Secretary Home, Abhijit Sinha informed that as of Saturday, a total of 93 Nagaland citizens have applied for e-Passes and 12839 have requested Government arrangement for transportation to come back to Nagaland.
Citizens can apply through the returnees’ declaration form in the website iamstranded.nagaland.gov.in.
On inter-district movement of stranded persons which continued for the third day on Saturday, Sinha informed that about 2000 people have travelled back to their respective districts from various locations in the State.
Financial assistance for citizens stranded outside
Sinha meanwhile informed that a total of Rs 7.12 crore has been disbursed as financial assistance to stranded persons of Nagaland in other States.
Till date, a total of 18,156 applicants comprising of 13,782 working people, 4,203 students and 171 patients have been provided assistance by transferring the amounts to their bank accounts, he added.
Law and order
Meanwhile, the State Home Department issued the daily report on law and order and said that 23 violations of the lockdown were reported and 23 persons were ‘bound down.’ No law and order incident has been reported in any part of the State, it said.
Essential goods and services
According to the report, all essential commodity shops and medical shops were open in all the districts. No shortages of food grains, groceries milk or medicines have been reported in any part of the State and no restriction was imposed on the movement of commercial vehicles for distribution of essential commodities and service providers.
It also said that ‘suitable arrangements’ have been made for providing food and shelter to migrant workers affected by the COVID-19 restrictions. Accordingly, 4 relief camps are active where 64 migrant labourers are housed and 4 food camps are active. Further, more than 500 daily wagers and needy people were provided food/dry ration, it said.
