Nagaland COVID-19 update: results for 19 awaited

•    620 samples test negative
•    NMC partners with DH&FW for OPD 

 

KOHIMA, APRIL 28 (MExN): A total of 639 samples have been sent for testing from the State, out of which 620 have tested negative for COVID-19. The results for 19 samples are awaited.


Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha meanwhile informed Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today launched 10 ambulances acquired by the State Government at Dimapur District Hospital. The Chief Minister also met the Medical personnel at the District Hospital and inspected the preparedness for COVID-19 at the Hospital.


Sinha also said that all the District Hospitals in the State have been advised to continue delivery of selected services such as Outpatient Department (OPD)and other day care services till such time COVID-19 related patients are admitted in the hospital, provided that, adequate barriers are installed to prevent intermingling of patients and to avoid overcrowding.


OPD services start 
In connection to the Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) partnering with the Department of Health & Family Welfare for providing OPD service in the districts, Sinha said that the health care services has been started in Wokha District at town Sub Centre and in Mokokchung at Kumlong Sub Centre, Impur Clinic and Impur Christian Hospital besides Kohima and Dimapur.


 “The OPD service will be available from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Depending on the availability of volunteers, similar arrangements will be expanded to other locations and Districts,” he added.

Sinha meanwhile also issued the daily report on law and order and facilitation of essential goods and services in the State for April 28. The report stated that 16 violations of the lockdown were reported and 27 persons were “bound down.” Further, 5 vehicles were seized and a fine of Rs 500 was imposed under the MV Act. However, no law and order incident has been reported in any part of the State, it added.

 

No shortages of essentials 
According to the report, food grains and grocery shops were open in all the districts except in Wokha and Kiphire. No shortages of food grains, groceries milk or medicines have been reported in any part of the State and there was unrestricted movement of commercial vehicles for distribution of essential commodities and service providers.


The report also stated that suitable arrangements have been made for providing food and shelter to migrant workers affected by the COVID-19 restrictions.


In this regard, there are 4 active relief camps where 469) migrant labourers are housed and 4 active food camps. Further, more than 4400 daily wagers and needy people were provided food/dry ration.


Reiterating that the position of availability of essential goods and commodities continue to be comfortable across the State, Sinha concluded with a request for continued adherence to the lockdown measures.
