Nagaland: COVID recoveries surpass new cases for third consecutive day

Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): Single-day recoveries surpassed fresh COVID-19 cases for the third consecutive day in Nagaland as 51 more people were cured of the disease while 28 tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The new cases have pushed the total caseload in the State to 31,195, while 29,145 people have recovered from the disease thus far, the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme reported in its daily health bulletin.

The new cases were reported from Dimapur (15), Kohima (7), Mokokchung (3), Phek (2), and Wokha (1).

The COVID death toll in Nagaland increased to 649 as a person from Dimapur district succumbed to the infection on Tuesday. The bulletin also listed a total of 15 other deaths that were categorised as ‘non COVID deaths (with COVID positivity).’

Nagaland now has 401 active cases out of which Dimapur district has the highest number of active cases at 212, followed by Kohima (93), Mokokchung (42), Tuensang (19), Phek (18), Kiphire (8), Longleng (5), Wokha (2), and Peren (2). While data reporting for Noklak district comes under Tuensang district as Noklak does not have a separate surveillance unit, Mon and Zunheboto are the only districts with zero active cases at present.

As many as 3,70,298 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far in the State, including 1,256 on Tuesday, as per the bulletin.
