Governor Ravi, CM Rio lead State in paying tributes

Nagaland Chief Secretary Tali Temjen Toy passed away on Thursday evening in Kohima after a prolonged illness.  
He was 57 and is survived by his wife, 2 sons and 2 daughters.

An IAS cadre from Nagaland, Toy entered the service in 1989 and served the State Government in various capacities. 

According to the Government of Nagaland’s ‘State Civil List,’ he was officially appointed to the present post on January 1, 2019. Earlier, however, he officiated as CS for some months after assuming the responsibility on March 17, 2018.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Governor RN Ravi and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio led others in mourning Toy’s demise and paid rich tributes to the departed bureaucrat.

In his tribute, Governor Ravi said that the Nagaland has lost an “able administrator and one of the finest human being!”

“Extremely sad and shocked to know that Shri @temjentoy is no more with us. We lost an able administrator and one of the finest human being! May his soul rest in peace. May God give strength to family to bear with this devastating tragedy,” the official handle of Raj Bhavan Kohima tweeted. 

The Chief Minister also took to Twitter to offer his condolences and said that Toy’s demise is a ‘huge loss for the Government of Nagaland and for the Nagas as a whole.’

“I am extremely saddened at the passing away of @temjentoy , Chief Secretary  of Nagaland. He was a humble, upright and dedicated government servant. His death is a huge loss for the Govt. of Nagaland & for the Nagas as a whole. Heartfelt condolences to his family. May his soul RIP,” Rio tweeted.

Nagaland's lone Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Tokheho Yepthomi also expressed sadness over the demise and remembered Toy as a “upright person with a deep sense of integrity and humility.”

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Temjen Toy, CS Nagaland. He was an upright person with a deep sense of integrity and humility. Nagaland has today lost a very fine human being. May his soul rest in peace,” Yepthomi tweeted. 

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton called the demise an “an irreparable loss” for the State.

“An irreparable loss! The news of the untimely demise of Shri Temjen Toy, Chief Secretary, Nagaland has shocked and shattered us all. This is a very unfortunate day for us. We've lost an absolute gem. My deepest condolences to his family and dear ones. May his soul rest in peace!,” he posted on Twitter. 

BJP National Spokesperson and State Legislator, Mmhonlumo Kikon also termed Toy as “one of the most efficient administrator” and mourned the loss of a ‘shining star.’

“One of the most efficient administrator, a gentle & kind human being, an innovative & creative officer, Nagas have lost a shining star in the sad demise of Temjen Toy, the Chief Secretary of Nagaland.  I pray that his soul rest in peace,” Kikon tweeted.
