Facilities soon in all District Economics and Statistics Offices
Kohima, March 18 (MExN): In a move aimed at strengthening early identity registration and inclusion of infants to welfare schemes, the Economics & Statistics Department on March 17 launched a Baal Aadhaar Registration Counter its Directorate in Kohima.
The facility was inaugurated by Akunu S Meyase, DES Secretary.
As per the State DIPR, the initiative enables Aadhaar-linked birth registration for children in the 0–5 age group through the Child Enrolment Lite Client (CELC) kit, ensuring that children are enrolled in the national identity system at an early stage.
If further noted that while biometric data is not collected during enrolment for children below five years of age, mandatory biometric updates will be required once the child attains the ages of five and fifteen.
The department stated that early Aadhaar registration will facilitate inclusion in government services and welfare schemes, while also aiding more effective planning and delivery of child-centric programmes.
Appealing to the public, the department urged parents and guardians to avail of the facility by visiting the designated enrolment centre at the Directorate. It was further informed that similar facilities will soon be extended to all District Economics and Statistics Offices, with necessary procedures currently underway in coordination with the Unique Identification Authority of India.
