Nagaland: Dimapur-Kohima 4-lane works resume after payment of bills

Morung Express News
Dimapur | October 5

Four lane works from Dimapur-Kohima which was halted for sometime have resumed after payment of bills by M/s ECI Engineering and Construction Company Ltd to the sub-contractors and a fuel station, M/s M.K. Assertion Station, Tsiepama.

The pending bill to the fuel station amounting to Rs 1, 56, 09, 561 was cleared in full. The Morung Express visited the fuel station on October 3 to confirm and was informed that the bill was paid on 14 September 2018. Now, the ECI is learnt to be taking fuel supply from IOC on cash and transported by oil tankers.

Meanwhile, ECI Business Development Coordinator, PL Rao who was at the ECI base camp at Kukidolong claimed to this reporter that the four lane works had never been stopped when queried as to when the works resumed.

Rao’s statement contradicts the information he provided to a local daily on August 23 that works had stopped for the past 10 days thus prompting the state government to call for a meeting and concerns raised by different organizations.

It may be recalled that the Kukidolong Village Council had also summoned Rao on August 24 and asked him to rectify through newspaper that the information he provided to a local daily regarding alleged harassment of labourers at Kukidolong was a “fault statement.” However, till today, no such clarification/rectification has been issued by Rao.
