Nagaland DLSAs conduct various awareness activities

Dimapur, January 31 (MExN): District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) recently conducted various awareness activities on (POCSO) Act, 2012, Motor Vehicle Act, 2019, Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
Kohima: Kohima DLSA organised legal awareness programme at Rengma Fellowship, Bayavu Hill Kohima on January 30.
Mhechiete U Kenye, Panel Lawyer KDLSA spoke on the topic ‘Consumer Protection Act, 1986’. Asenla Longkumer, Panel Lawyer KDLSA spoke on ‘The Importance of Will’. Vikehiepie Sirie, Panel Lawyer KDLSA spoke on ‘Motor Vehicle Act.’
The programme was chaired by Vimeno Kuotsu, Panel Lawyer KDLSA, Pastor Rengma Fellowship invoked God blessing while vote of thanks was proposed by Nulhuvolu Rhakho, Panel Lawyer KDLSA. More than 41 persons were benefited in the programme.
On invitation by the 3rd Assam Riffles, IGAR North Kohima, KDLSA partook in the ex-serviceman rally whereby rendering services to the ex-servicemen, widows, kit and kin of war deceased in the nature of giving legal counselling, advice, distributing of legal literatures.
During the rally ex-servicemen, widows, kit and kin of war deceased from entire districts of Nagaland participated during the rally. In accordingly, more than 150 persons were benefited in the said rally.
Eight Panel Lawyers including the Retainer Lawyer of the Kohima District legal Services Authority rendered their service in the rally.
Peren: Peren DLSA conducted awareness camp on ‘Importance of will’ and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 at Dungki village on January 27.
Asungbe, Retainer lawyer PDLSA delivered keynote address and spoke on ‘Importance of will’. Italang, Panel Lawyer spoke on the topic POCSO Act and emphasized on the penalties for those defaulters under the Act. Asuni, panel lawyer spoke Domestic Violence Act. More than 30 beneficiaries attended the camp.
Phek: Phek DLSA in collaboration with Legal Metrology & Consumer protection and Taxi Union conducted awareness programme on Motor Vehicle Act 2019 and Consumer Protection Act, 2019 on January 27.
District Project Assistant Keneinuo Swuro shared on Motor Vehicle Act and Sekhotso Rokha, Panel Lawyer presented on Consumer Protection Act.
Short speech was delivered by Shekhozo Rhakho Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, Phek. During interactive session, queries on Consumer Protection and MV Act were raised. More than 25 beneficiaries attended the programme.
Mokokchung: Mokokchung DLSA organized awareness programne on Motor Vehicle Act at two driving Schools i.e Mokokchung driving School and Hi-Tech driving School, Mokokchung Town. The team was led by Mapujungla Pongen District Project Assistant, Panel Lawyer Limanungsang, PLV Molusen and Lipokakum. MDLSA also distributed printed leaflet on penalties under MV Act.

Ajongba Imchen, CJM Dimapur and Secretary DDLSA summed up the programme by challenging the gathering to be good citizens of the country. He stated that Legal Services Authority is here not for time pass but here for a purpose and unless the people gathered here are not serious they will not learn anything.
The programme was attended by 240 people. Panel lawyer Thiuswangwiliu chaired the programme. Welcome address was delivered by Fr. Stephen Chazhisseril, Principal Don Bosco Hr Sec School.
Wokha: Wokha DLSA PLVs from Wokha DLSA Daisy Tungoe, Zuchobemo and PA Shanchobeni P Lotha rendered services to students by opening a Legal Literacy stall during the recently held Lotha Students Union General Conference on January 27 and 28 at Merapani. Legal Pamphlets were distributed to 12 Ranges/Circle Students Union covering 88 students’ union villages.
Wokha DLSA conducted awareness on Juvenile Justice (Care and protection of Children) Act and Protection of children from Sexual offenses Act at Little Angel’s School Wokha, on January 17 and Grace School Wokha on January 28. Resource persons were Renbemo Tungoe, Asst Public Prosecutor, Panel Lawyer Renbonthung Tsanglao, Panel Lawyer, Meribemo A Lotha and Project Assistant Shanchobeni P Lotha.
Longleng: Longleng DLSA Longleng DLSA conducted awareness programme on the topic ‘POCSO Act’ on January 28 at Tribalhood Hostel Nyengching Longleng. Imlichuba PLV chaired the programme, resource person P Monyei Phom Panel Lawyer spoke on ‘Right to Legal Aid’ and ‘POCSO Act 2019’
Kiphire: Kiphire DLSA organized a legal seminar on Motor Vehicle Act and importance of will on January 28 at Public ground Kiphire with the members of Local Taxi Union Kiphire Town. N Kano, Secretary DLSA & CJM spoke on the rules and provision provided under the motor vehicle Act. The programme was attended by 36 members from the local taxi union and was ended by a vote of thanks by Rebica T Sangtam, District Project Assistant.
