Nagaland DoTE bids farewell to retiring director Er Arjun Singh

Kohima, September 3 (MExN): A farewell programme in honour of Er Arjun Singh, who retired as Director of Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Government of Nagaland on August 31, was held in the presence of Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Tribal Affairs and Imjung M Panger, Commissioner and Secretary of Higher & Technical Education.

Speaking on the occasion, Temjen Imna Along asserted that Er Arjun Singh is a gentleman of high calibre, who had tirelessly served the department and the people of the State; and that his sincerity and dedication towards his assigned duties  and responsibilities are worthy to be noted and honored. The Minister conveyed his special thanks to the family of the outgoing Director for being so supportive during his entire stay in Nagaland, which has encouraged and enabled Arjun Singh to serve the people of the State selflessly, adding that his sacrifices and services rendered shall ever be imprinted in the hearts of the people.

Imjung M Panger also conveyed his appreciation and admiration to the outgoing Director for his untiring service rendered to the department.

Er Arjun Singh while sharing his experiences also thanked the Government of Nagaland for all the facilities that has been provided to him, thereby, enabling him to discharge his duties in the service of the people of the State in various capacities. He also expressed sincere gratitude to the Minister, Commissioner and Secretary, Higher & Technical Department and his colleagues in the Secretariat, his subordinate officers in the Directorate. He further went on to say that Nagas are polite and kind and that Nagaland is the safest place to stay. He hoped that Nagaland will prosper and grow from strength to strength.

Er Arjun Singh joined the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education, as Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department at Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu, Zunheboto, in the year 1985, at the age of 24.

He was transferred and was made the in charge of Controller of Examination in the year 2000; yet, got reverted to Khelhoshe Polytechnic as a Lecturer in 2003, and was given charge of Principal KPA in 2006. He was transferred to ICIT Mokokchung as Principal in charge during the early part of 2007, promoted to Principal, and transferred back to KPA as Principal in 2007.

He became the Principal of Government Polytechnic Kohima (GPK) in the year 2008. In 2012, he was promoted to Additional Director and posted in the DoTE, became Director in the year 2016 and successfully completed his 35 years of service and retired on August 31, 2020.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Tiakaba Amer, Project Director. Farewell speeches were delivered by Er Keyiekhru Rhutso, Principal, GPK on behalf of the Polytechnic Principals, Dr Abeni Lotha, Director of Higher Education and Er Vipulhou Lhoungu, Officer on Special Duty on behalf of the DoTE.
