As part of the ongoing 90-days Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp campaign across the country, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton called for building a truly self-reliant India.

Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is a campaign aimed at making India self-reliant by boosting domestic manufacturing, reducing import dependency and enhancing local industries' capabilities.

Urging the people of the state to reaffirm “our pledge to Swadeshi,” Patton said “This pledge is not merely a slogan, but the very foundation of Atmanirbhar Bharat, a self-reliant India.”

“It is a call to embrace produce made in our country, to cherish our culture and to strengthen the economy of our nation,” Patton said while addressing a press conference at State BJP head office, Kohima on October 6.

“Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar-Ghar Swadeshi is our mantra, our mission and our strength,” he said. Stating that Swadeshi is an integral part of our culture and our spirit, he said “Instead of blindly chasing foreign goods, we are once again recognizing and embracing our roots.”

The campaign, which was launched on September 25 across the country, will continue till December 25, 2025.

In India, three pillars- Swadeshi (Production and adoption of India goods), Swabhasha (Promotion of Indian languages and knowledge systems) and Swabhusha (our heritage, design, and aesthetics are laying the very foundation of Atmanirbhar Bharat as they guide us towards Viksit Bharat,” Patton said.

He said that India is advancing the vision of self-reliance through defense indigenization, One District One Product, GeM/ONDC, language technologies and taking pride in our civilization heritage.

Stating that the scope of Swadeshi is no longer limited to Khadi or diya, Patton said, “It now spans from the BrahMos missile to semiconductors, from Indian language and knowledge traditions to world -class goods and crafts.”

Patton said that the digital revolution has reached every village and India has become the second-largest mobile manufacturer in the world.

Challenges
India has created vibrant platforms under the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” to promote Swabhasha. “Today, khadi has become a proud symbol of India on the world stage. Through initiatives such as the PM MITRA Parks Yojana, the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for textiles and technical fabrics, and the National Technical Textiles Mission for innovation and market development,” Patton said adding that India's attire and aesthetics are receiving global recognition.

“To strengthen Swadeshi, we must once again embrace the Panch Pran. Samajik Samrasta, promoting social harmony, equality, and fraternity; adopting an eco-friendly approach; embracing Swadeshi; reviving family values through Kutumb Prabodhan; and Swabodh, strengthening citizenship and civic responsibility,” he said.

He said that Modi has appealed to the nation to buy 'Made in India' products. Whatever our traders sell must also be made in India. Now, we must make Swadeshi the foundation of a Viksit Bharat, Patton said. “This will happen only when we adopt the Swadeshi Sankalp and proudly purchase the goods that are made in our own country, the Deputy Chief minister said adding that every shop should carry a sign “Garv se Kaho Ye Swadeshi Hai.

When we do this, our money remains within our country. When money stays here, it builds our roads, funds our schemes, and generates new employment, he said.

India moving forward with the goal of Swadeshi
Patton said that nation is moving forward with the goal of Swadeshi under the leadership of Modi.  “The pledge of Swadeshi is our collective responsibility. Each one of us must make it a part of our daily lives,” he said and. “Our mission is to carry the message of Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar-Ghar Swadeshi to every household across the nation, he said and urged the citizens to spread this resolve to every village, every lane, every home to kindle the flame of Swadeshi in every heart.

Patton said that Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan is not just a policy initiative, but a national strength whose aim is to connect every Indian, inspire every citizen, and carry the message of self-reliance and Swadeshi to every home. Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign will be marked by online Swadeshi quiz competition, Atmanirbhar Bharat essay competition, conferences for traders, small industrialists and professionals, college-level Swadeshi Sankalp seminars and Swadeshi fairs. “We should all participate in these activities with pride so that the message of Swadeshi reaches society and our Swadeshi resolve succeeds, Patton added.
