Kohima, August 20 (MExN): Secretary of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Binod Kumar, urged officials to take the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Photo Electoral Roll 2026 seriously and give their best, stating that the exercise would have a “generational impact” on Nagaland and the country.
Reviewing the progress of the SIR exercise in Kohima district on August 20, he also discussed challenges faced by officials at polling stations where mapping remains low.
To this end, Kumar directed them to ensure that the distribution and collection of Enumeration Forms are completed well in advance so that the exercise is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
He further advised EROs and AEROs to visit the field and discuss issues with BLOs in areas where SIR figures remain low, while stressing the need for close monitoring and timely action to ensure smooth completion of the exercise, the State DIPR reported.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Awa Lorin and Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kohima, B Henok Buchem, NCS, were also present at the review meeting, which was attended by District Election Officer (DEO), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of the concerned polling stations.
