The voting percentage in poll-bound Nagaland was recorded at over 67% till 3PM on Tuesday.
Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha informed that the voting, barring some sporadic incidents, voting was going on peacefully so far.
The voting will for 59 members to 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly will officially conclude at 4 PM in 2,053 polling stations while it will stop at 3 PM in 103 polling stations.
The 60th member, three-time Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party's (NDDP) from the Northern Angami-II constituency, been declared elected unopposed the other candidate Chupfuo Angami of the ruling Naga People's Front (NPF) withdrew his nomination.
Altogether, 11,70,548 voters are exercising their franchise in 2156 polling stations across the state, of which 1,062 are critical, 530 vulnerable and 564 normal.
According to CEO Nagaland, a “crude bomb made of gelantine was blasted” at polling station 20 under Tizit Assembly Constituency in Tizit Village at 5.45 AM on Tuesday morning in which a civilian sustained minor injury.
Stone pelting were also reported from the same constituency at Lapa Village where some polling materials were damaged.
However, the CEO said that the polling is underway after timely replacement of the damaged materials.
One person was reportedly killed in shooting incident in Akuluto, however, it could not be independently confirmed till the filing of this report. Sporadic incidents of violence were also reported from certain pockets of Mokokchung and Wokha districts.
Till one 1PM, re-poll/fresh poll were recommended for one polling station – Ladigarh, under 49 Tamlu Assembly Constituency.
According to a CEO Nagaland update, polling parties were obstructed by Assam Police and they could not reach the designated polling station on time.
The public were against setting up a makeshift temporary booth at Yonglok or elsewhere, it added.
