Ruling NDPP-BJP alliance crosses majority mark
Dimapur, March 2 (MExN): Counting of votes for the February 27 elections to 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) begin at 8AM Thursday morning and early trends indicatedstrong performance for the ruling NDPP-BJP alliance.
Out of party-wise trends and result of 52 seats available on the Election Commission of India’s results portal as of 11:30AM, the alliance was ahead in 29 assembly constituencies (ACs) while the BJP has already won 2 seats, one unopposed.
With a combined total of 31, the NDPP-BJP alliance has already crossed the majority mark of 31 in the 60-seat NLA.
Individually, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) was leading in 21 while the Bharatiya Janata Party was ahead in 8.
The Nationalist Congress Party was ahead in 6, while Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), National People's Party and Independent were leading in 3 ACs each.
The Indian National Congress, Republican Party of India (Athawale) and Janata Dal (United) had edge in 2 ACs.
The fate of 183 candidates, including four women, from 59 ACs will be decided on the counting day on March 1.
