
Dimapur, October 14, (MExN): In an unfortunate turn of events, the All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association, Kohima, has concertedly resolved in an executive emergency meeting held on 12th, October, 2011 to stage an indefinite ‘Tool down strike’ with effect from 24th October, 2011. The Association stated that the Government has failed to fulfill their demand without any justification and therefore, as against the Government’s apathy towards the Association’s legal rights, It has decided to stage the proposed agitation.
In a press note issued by Panger Pongen, president, ANEFWA and N.Lotha, joint secretary, ANEFWA it was stated that the Chief-Engineer forwarded an ultimatum to the government for approval on 18th August 2011 which was the genuine charter of demands for regularization 381 no of work charged, for filling the unfilled vacancies, for enhancement of risk allowance of work charged from Rs 50/- to Rs 300/- identical with the regular employees and for enhancement of uniform allowance from Rs 500/- to Rs 700/-.The association pointed out that after a lapse of 30days, the Commissioner and Secretary of the Department, through an office letter, requested association to give sufficient time to the Government to complete all formalities for addressing the demands.
It further stated that in the interest of the justice, the executives of the association, in a meeting held on 21st September, 2011, resolved give an extension of 15 days to the Government, which expired on 6th of October 2011.The association issued another press release in the local daily on 8th October, 2011, extending the proposed agitation for one more week on account of the Puja holidays. The extended days given to the authorities expired on 13th October, 2011 but the demand has still not been fulfilled. The note asserted that in retaliation to the failure by the Government to cater to the demands of the association on or before 23th October 2011, the association would carry out the proposed agitation. The association appealed the concerned general public, NGOs, Student bodies and establishments for their moral support and also reminded all the authorities concerned to expedite the matter in order to avoid unwanted turnover for the benefit of all.
