DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 1 (MExN): The Nagaland eves staged a good comeback win in the ongoing Women’s Senior One Day Tournament played at Mecca of Indian Cricket, Eden Garden Kolkata after a very unlucky loss the day earlier against Jammu & Kashmir.

Earlier in the day, Sikkim having won the toss and electing to bat first, and managed to put up a fighting total of 159 runs losing all wickets in 48.2 overs. Sikkim got off to a steady starts. They were cruising nicely at the half way mark with 80 runs on the board with 3 wickets down and were trying to accelerate but the introduction of Limatola Jamir (7-1-20-2) put a hold in the progress.

Due to her tight bowling, the opponent resorted to risky singles which resulted in two run outs and adding to that she also took two wickets. With bat Jetsung top scored with 51 runs and Rinki contributing 32 runs for Sikkim. For Naga eves, apart from Limatola; Gautami, Elina Muru, Kiran picked 1 wicket each.

Chasing the target Nagaland overcame the target reaching 162 runs losing 5 wickets in 41.2 overs and winning the match by 5 wickets. Poonam top scored with an unbeaten 91runs of 102 balls and Gautami scored 20 runs. The most critical partnership of the match came between Elina Muru and Poonam, an unbeaten partnership of 60 runs for the 6th wicket.

For Sikkim, Tabita picked up 2 wickets while Pranita, Purni and Anjeel took one wicket each. Nagaland will play next against Meghalaya on November 3 at Eden Garden, Kolkata.
