Nagaland excels at 25th National ITF Taekwondo Championship

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 29 (MExN): The Nagaland State team has excelled in the recently concluded 25th National ITF Taekwondo Championship held at Ongole, Andhra Pradesh on December 24 and 25. The team won 2nd runners up in the overall medal tally with 10 gold, 3 Silver and 1 bronze. 

The individual medal winners from the state are Uto Xuivi Zhimomi - 2 Gold; Paul Zeliang - 2 Gold; Pikupu Zhimomi - 1 Gold; Puloto Chophy -  1 Silver and 1 Bronze; Nongothung Shitiri  - 1 Gold and 1 Silver; Tokupu Xuivi Zhimomi - 1 Gold and 1 Silver; and Nito Xuivi Zhimomi - 2 Gold.

The Nagaland team also won Gold medal in the team patterns event. It may be mentioned that the Nagaland Team completely dominated the team as well as all individual pattern events. 

The Championship was supervised under the chairmanship of Senior Master Maruthi Prasad Vannum, 8th Degree Black belt, International Instructors and Umpires and graced by Justice K Manmadha Rao, Honourable Judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court.
The events held were individual sparring, individual and group patterns and special technique.  Overall team champions were Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh runners up and Nagaland team placed second runners up.

More than 400 participants and officials were present for the events. The 26th Nationals will be held in Delhi. Meanwhile, Otoka H Yeptho, President of Nagaland Taekwondo Federation congratulated the team for the performance and for bringing laurels to the association in particular and the state in general.
