
Kohima, June 21 (MExN): The State Excise Department has made seizures worth over Rs 1 crore from January 1 to June 20, 2024.
In a press release issued by Commissioner of Excise and Director of Prohibition, H Atokhe Aye, NCS today, the department has made seizures across the state under the NLTP Act 1989, NDPS Act 1985 and the Drugs & Cosmetic Act 1940.
In this regard, it has seized 13293 bottles of IMFL, 759 Grams of heroin, 2100 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon and 14124 Litres of country liquor.
A total of 776 persons have been arrested and subsequently 775 offences have been registered against the persons.
The release stated that an estimated value of the seizures affected is Rs 1,08,51,180.
The Excise department has further cautioned the general public to refrain from indulging in activities involving possession of illegal contraband items as it will invite punitive measures under the law.
It said that the Department has intensified its duty and surveillance at various sensitive places and interstate Check gates to effectively prevent the inflow of liquor and other illicit items for the smooth and successful conduct of the ULB electioneering process.
