Commissioner of Excise and all rank and file of State Excise Department commemorated International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in the Excise Directorate, Dimapur on June 26.

Dimapur, June 28 (MExN): The Commissioner of Excise and all rank and file of State Excise Department joined the nation in commemorating International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with the theme ‘Breaking the chains: Prevention, Treatment and recovery for all’ in the Excise Directorate, Dimapur on June 26.
An update received here stated that the programme saw the attendance of the Public Prosecutor, Dimapur Court, Temsunaro Jamir and Superintendent of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Dimapur Field Unit, Lhunkholal.
The Joint Commissioner of Excise (Narcotic Cell), S Phyobemo Kikon, who chaired the programme also highlighted on the history of the day and how it came into being.
The Commissioner of Excise exhorted the gathering and congratulated the Department field officials on the seizures and arrests and also encouraged them to improve their field activities. He also led the gathering in taking the pledge against drug abuse illicit traffickers and smugglers.
The presentation and vote of thanks was delivered by Additional Commissioner of Excise, S Chanlei Angh.
The 2nd session saw a presentation by Lhunkholal on the topic “Recent drug trafficking scenario in the NE region” and a presentation by Temsunaro Jamir on the topic “Insight into the new criminal laws relevant to enforcement agencies and also on mandatory provisions of the NDPS Act.”
The programme ended with concluding remarks by Osenrhoni Kikon, Deputy Superintendent of Excise (Narcotic Cell).
