Dimapur, October 22 (MExN): Seized liquor and drugs worth Rs 43 lakh were destroyed under relevant sections of the NLTP Act 1989 and NDPS Act 1985 at the Excise Directorate Complex, Dimapur on October 22 by the duly constituted Liquor and Drugs Destruction Boards.
A press release received here stated that the liquor destruction was carried out by crushing with excavator and the seized drugs were destroyed by incineration.
The destroyed liquor and drugs consisted of Assorted IMFL/Beer-25,558 bottles; Spasmo Proxyvon-2,100 capsules; Heroin-821 grams.
An amount of Rs 7 lakh was deposited as revenue realised from case compounding, 619 persons arrested for liquor offences and four persons arrested in connection with drug cases.
In the destruction programme, chaired by the Jt Commissioner of Excise (NC) and reports of the seized articles were read out by the Superintendents of Excise Dimapur District, Mobile Squad and Narcotic Cell.
The Commissioner of Excise, H Atokhe Aye (NCS) commended the Excise Enforcement personnel for the huge seizures made, with limited man power and in difficult conditions, perform their duties diligently and encouraged them to continue to work sincerely.
