DIMAPUR, JUNE 30 (MExN): With the onset of summer season, Nagaland has been experiencing medium to heavy downpour in the month of June with the intensity depending on the location and vicinity to mountains.
According to rainfall data recorded by the Directorate of Soil & Water Conservation, the state has been experiencing good rainfall activities this year with a total rainfall of 5697.0mm recorded in June which is more than the average rainfall of 4304.4mm recorded during the past 10 years.
The average maximum temperature of the state hovered at 27.6OC and average minimum temperature stands at 20OC.
Except for Meluri and Kiphire observatories, the rest 15 meteorological observations of Nagaland recorded adequate rainfall during this period, the S&WC dept said. Mon received the highest amount of rainfall at 543.0mm followed by Sechu Kohima with 536.4mm.
Comparatively, Dimapur received abundance rainfall of 472.3 in the last 30 days (June) while the average rainfall in the same month recorded during the last few years stood at 159.3mm. the state capital Kohima recorded 271.9mm rainfall in June.
