Advisor SH Khehovi Yeputhomi flags off the WBB second Extreme Terrain Expedition at the Niathu Resort, Dimapur on October 11.
Dimapur, October 12 (MExN): Wander Beyond Boundaries (WBB) with the support of Nagaland Tourism has embarked on its second Extreme Terrain Expedition through remote parts of Nagaland from October 11 to 22.
Titled ‘Log & Drum Naga Land’, the route traces some of the most nondescript, but challenging mud tracks and roads across the state traveling to some of the least explored and untouched areas, in an effort to explore the land and its people.
Advisor for Tourism, Art and Culture, SH Khehovi Yeputhomi flagged off the WBB second international extreme terrain expedition at the Niathu Resort, Dimapur on October 11.
In this expedition, the convoy comprises of 8 expedition ready 4x4 vehicles suitable for extreme off-road conditions. The route starts from Dimapur, which will take the road to Kohima via Niuland and Zadima. From Kohima, the route heads to Lake Shilloi, further off-roads to Kiphire, then to Tuensang, and finally Mon.
Folk dance performances have been organized at a number of places: Kigwema (Sema and Angami cultural performances), Sangtam performance at Kiphire and Konyak war dance at Longwa and will finally end the expedition at Dibrugarh.
This expedition will be led by Nidhi Salgame and Col Satty Malik. The team on this expedition comprises of global travelers and off-road drivers from across India. Through travel over the next few days, the team will get an authentic glimpse into the Naga way of life in these remote pockets. WBB uses the medium of extreme terrain 4x4 travel to explore remote lands and its people, in order to help discerning travelers, recalibrate their own lens for life. “Log & Drum Naga Land is all set to facilitate this experience,” stated a press release received here.
The entire expedition is being documented through photographs and video by Sandesh Ravikumar (adventure photo and video professional from Bangalore) and a collector’s edition coffee table book will be created post Expedition by senior travel writers Anurag Mallick and Priya Ganapathy.
