NCC cadets practice putting out a gas cylinder fire under the supervision of F&ES personnel during the CATC camp at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung.

Mokokchung, January 8 (MExN): NCC Cadets attending the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) at Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung took part in a demonstration-cum-training organised by the Nagaland Fire & Emergency Services (NFES), Mokokchung Unit.
According to a press release, the event was part of the CATC being conducted by 25 Naga Bn NCC since January 5. The demo was conducted by Sub Inspector Mayang and a team of NFES personnel.
It began with a lecture-cum-demonstration during which the NFES personnel acquainted the cadets with the types of fire and equipment that are to be deployed in order to put out a fire. Following this, the cadets were given the opportunity for hands-on practice using fire extinguishers, sand, water, ceiling hooks, etc., the release stated.
SI Mayang also apprised the cadets of the common causes of domestic fires like cooking gas cylinder leakage, electrical short circuit and fires caused by smoking of meat.
Among others, an innovative method of putting out a gas cylinder fire using a plastic bucket, practice of handling high pressure water jet powered by a Fire Tender, as well as various methods of rescue and first aid was explained to the cadets, and they were made to practice fire men’s lift and first aid. The cadets expressed immense satisfaction on the variety of life skills training imparted to them by NCC, the release stated.
