Nagaland festival in Bhopal

Kohima, March 26 (MExN): The Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya under the celebrations of its 40th Foundation Day organised various programmes and activities at its premises from March 21 to 23 last.   Sangrahalya in continuation of four decade long tradition celebrated foundation Day with various programmes with Nagaland state as theme.  

The chief guest of inaugural ceremony was Professor BK Konwar, Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University, Nagaland.   On this occasion, a new gallery on Ethno Music at Veethi Sankul was inaugurated. Followed by inauguration of Nagaland Prasang: Cultural Festival of Nagaland under Celebration of Regional Cultures where music from Nagaland was presented by the famous band—Tetseo Sisters, and traditional dances of various Naga Communities were performed at the Open air stage of Charaiveti premises.   On March 22, a special exhibition on ‘Cultural Heritage of Nagaland - The Nagas’ at Avritti Bhawan was inaugurated. Followed by opening of a new exhibition entitled as “The Last of the Tattooed Headhunters: The Konyaks” at Veethi Sankul.   March 23 event commenced with “Colloquium on Oral and Literary Traditions of Nagaland” with key speaker - Prof. Temsula Ao at Rock Art Centre with traditional presentations from Nagaland in the evening.
