Nagaland fighters in GAMMAI national c’ships

DIMAPUR, MARCH 25 (MExN): Four fighters from Nagaland are taking part in the Global Association for Mixed Martial Arts India (GAMMAI) Open National Championships being held at Fiton Sports in Bengaluru from March 23 to 26.

The championship will determine the team that will be selected to represent India at the GAMMA Asian Championships to be held in Kyrgyzstan this July.

Kekhrieneitso Angami, Limasunep Imchen, Arsenba Ozukum and Mairidin Newmai from Nagaland and training out of The Combat Academy- Nagaland in Dimapur are taking part in this tournament.

Kekhrieneitso Angami in the lightweight (70.3kgs) category won 3 fights on route to the finals where he will face Sumit Bhyan from Maharashtra tomorrow.

In the bantamweight (61.2kgs) category, Limasunep Imchen won his first bout but came up short in the quarterfinals against Aaquib Javed from Karnataka.

Meanwhile, Arsenba Ozukum in the flyweight (56.7kgs) category won 2 bouts and will be facing Adinath Barde from Maharashtra in the finals tomorrow.

Mairidin Newmai in the featherweight (65.8kgs) category won his 3 fights and will be facing Laishram Chourajit Singh of Manipur tomorrow in the finals.
