Nagaland Finance Commission invites suggestions and views

Kohima, July 25 (MExN): The Third Nagaland State Finance Commission (NSFC) has invited suggestions or views from the general public, institutions, and organisations on principles governing the distribution of the net proceeds of taxes, duties, tolls, and fees leviable by the State. 

Interested individuals and entities can either submit their suggestions or views to the Commission through post, addressed to the Member Secretary, Third NSFC, Directorate of Treasuries and Accounts Building, First Floor, New Capital Complex, Kohima, Nagaland, or via email to thirdnagalandfincom@gmail.com by September 15. 

The Third NSFC was constituted on March 3, 2023 under the chairmanship of Menukhol John (Retired Principal Secretary to the Government of Nagaland and mandated is to make recommendations covering a three-year period, commencing on the April 1 2023 to March 31, 2026 on various taxations and revenue matters. 

Among others, it is mandated to recommend principles governing the distribution of the net proceeds of taxes, duties, tolls, and fees leviable by the State, which may be divided between the State and Municipalities. Besides, it will also determine their rates and decide on which types can be  assigned to or appropriated by the Municipalities.

The Commission will also determine the grant-in-aid to the Municipalities from the Consolidated Fund of the State and measures required to improve the financial position of Municipalities.

It can also recommend on any other matter referred to the Commission by the Government in the interest of sound finances of municipalities, informed the State DIPR.
