DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): Food Analyst, State Public Health Laboratory Kohima, Khrukutolu Veswuh, through a circular, has informed that Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) is working towards having food testing laboratory in the public as well as private sector. It has also initiated a scheme to provide Mobile Units called Food Safety on Wheels (FSW) for food testing to reach out to consumers. The Food Safety on Wheels would execute the function of testing including surveillance and enforcement, training and creating awareness regarding food safety, educating the consumers in various aspect of Food Safety Laws and common hygiene practices in the state. 'Food Safety on Wheels' can also be used to transport samples picked from remote areas to the nearest food testing laboratory. In view of the above, the Nagaland Food Safety on Wheels would be executing food safety awareness and surveillance of common food adulterants in food items in Dimapur town from April 24– 25 and April 27-28 at Peren Town, a DIPR report stated.
