The football fraternity of Nagaland under the banner of Nagaland Football Association (NFA) organized a felicitation programme in honour of Benei M Lamthiu, MLA and General Secretary of NFA on May 26.
Lamthiu was elected to the 14th House of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) from 57th Thonokyu Assembly Constituency in 2023 state general elections.
Addressing the felicitation programme- cum- special annual general body meeting of NFA at Hotel Japfu Kohima, Lamthiu maintained that football has the power to unite people.
“Let us use football to unite our people,” Lamthiu said.
Stressing on the need to put a collective mind to take football forward, he also assured to take football to higher level.
He thanked the NFA and various football associations across the state for according best wishes and support in his journey.
NFA president K. Neibou Sekhose said that Lamthiu has created a history in the annals of the NFA while holding the office of NFA elected to the NLA as member.
“Your victory is NFA victory and football lovers and to all sports person as a whole,” Sekhose said.
‘We are all proud of you’
Congratulating Lamthiu, Nagaland Football Coaches Association (NFCA) president said Roko Angami said “we are all proud of you.”
“Nagaland Football Association (NFA) being the highest echelon of Nagaland football fraternity has indeed played a remarkable role in nurturing young aspiring talents and has paved a road map for the young generations to follow and for such visionary endeavors, we wholeheartedly thank you (Lamthiu),” Roko said.
Roko was optimistic that Lamthiu ‘s involvement in the NLA will pave more outcome and opportunities for NFA in setting higher benchmarks and “through him much opportunities would be availed, which will eventually garner and improve the football fraternity of Nagaland from top to bottom.”
Further, Roko wishes NFA to grow higher, better and achieve greater heights.
Extending congratulation to MLA Lamthiu on behalf of Nagaland Referee Board, Kevingutuo Sekhose, Head of Referee, said, “It is indeed a proud moment for all of us to have him (Lamthiu) as member in the highest office of the state.”
“We hope that with you as our leader, the football fraternity of our state shall see brighter days ahead and will grow from strength to strength,” he added.
The felicitation programme was chaired by NFA sr. vice president Kiyeka S. Sumi while Dr. Viposa Kiso, Director, Gethemgo Sports International invoked God’s blessing.
Keneisenuo Sorhie presented special number while vote of thanks was proposed by NFA vice president Mughato Aye.
