Dimapur | July 14

The prices of petrol and diesel on July 14 remained static for second consecutive day after scaling to a record high in recent past.

Both petrol and diesel, on Wednesday, were retailing in the same rate as on July 12, when the oil marketing companies (OMCs) hiked the price of former by 0.27 paise, but slashed the cost of latter by 0.16 paise.

Accordingly, Nagaland commercial capital Dimapur was the only districts in Nagaland where petrol was available below Rs 100 a litre in Nagaland, The Morung Express have reported earlier.

Petrol reached Rs 100 a-litre- mark first in Tuensang and Kiphire on June 26 and presently, it is Rs 102.85 and Rs 102.77 respectively in the district.

Only in Dimapur, a litre of petrol is retailing at Rs 99.73, just 0.27 paise short of the Rs 100 mark.

Likewise, the price of diesel is highest in Tuensang at Rs 94.60 a litre, followed by Kiphire at Rs 94.56.

As per the database maintained by this newspaper, based on the IndianOil One app, till July 14, petrol prices have been revised upwards 7 day in July while remaining unchanged for 7 days.

Diesel prices have increased 4 times, while remaining unchanged from 9 times and decreasing once.

Fuel prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes such as value-added tax (VAT) and freight charges.

According to IOC’s ‘price buildup’ of fuel prices in Delhi, besides global price impact on base price, retail prices are determined by price charged to dealers (based price + fright etc), excise duty, average dealer commission, and VAT (including VAT on Dealer Commission).
