Kohima, September 9 (MExN): The Nagaland Basketball Association (NBA) has announced that Rolio Z Lohe has become the first FIBA-licensed statistician from Nagaland, holding FIBA Statistician License No. 41916.
The NBA said the achievement marks a milestone for basketball in the state and coincides with the FIBA U18 Asia Cup 2026, which began in Ahmedabad on August 13.
Ahead of the tournament, the FIBA Regional Office-Asia, under the aegis of the Basketball Federation of India (BFI), conducted a FIBA Statisticians Workshop from August 10 to 11. The workshop was attended by 49 aspirants and covered the FIBA Statisticians' Manual 2024 and implementation of the FIBA LiveStats software.
Lohe completed a six-week Basketball Coaching Certificate Course at the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Bengaluru, in 2023. He became a qualified World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC) coach in March 2024 after completing the programme held in Chümoukedima.
He appeared for the BFI B Panel examination in Chennai in September 2025 and completed an internship as Coach, Events and Operations Manager at Lakshyan Academy of Sports, Bengaluru, from April to May 2026.
NBA Secretary Sentiningsang Longkumer described the achievement as a "proud and defining moment" for Nagaland basketball and said Lohe's dedication and commitment had opened a new pathway for the state in the global basketball arena.
He said the achievement was not only personal but also an inspiration for young aspirants from Nagaland and the Northeast to aim higher.
Longkumer congratulated Lohe and all participants of the FIBA Statisticians Workshop and expressed hope that the milestone would lead to further achievements for the basketball community and Indian basketball.
