Kohima, November 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Governor PB Acharya and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio have extended greetings to the Sumi community on the joyous occasion of Ahuna festival. Ahuna is a post harvest festival, signifying the celebration of the season’s harvest in thanksgiving. In a message, Acharya called on the Sumi community to “thank the Almighty for his unwavering love and blessings and at the same time continue to safeguard and promot their rich culture and traditions.” “Through the festival and come together and rededicate oneself to make the atmosphere conducive in towns and villages for peaceful co-existence and for all round development in the State,” he said. May the festival of Ahuna bring peace, unity and prosperity to the Sumis in particular and Nagas in general, Acharya added in press release from PRO to Governor. Meanwhile, Rio took to Twitter to extend his greetings. “Greetings to the people from the Sumi community on the occasion of Ahuna. Nagaland's minister for Higher and Technical Education Temjen Imna Along also sent his “best wishes and greetings" to the Sumi Community on the auspicious occasion of Ahuna Festival. “May the harvest season brings immense joy and happiness in everyone’s life,” he posted on Twitter.
