Kohima, January 31 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi stated that the welfare of ex-servicemen is very important as they have dedicated their youth towards the service of the Nation and we should do our best in supporting them while addressing the 23rd annual meeting of the Rajya Sainik Board at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on January 31. 


PRO to Governor in a press release stated that Governor Ravi called on the Deputy Commissions of the State to take initiatives in their respective districts to work out mean for rehabilitating ex-servicemen who usually retire young from service. 


“Government employment for all ex-servicemen is not possible in the State Government sector and therefore alternative avenues should be explored and called for reemphasising skill development, vocational training, etc to rehabilitate them,” he stated. 


He opined that awareness for the Naga youth explaining the various avenues of the Armed forces, especially the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force was needed in a State like Nagaland. He called on the Rajya Sainik Board to take active part in advertising and creating awareness of such recruitment drives in the State. “The inherent strength of the people of Nagaland as a martial race is not adequately harnessed by the Country,” he added. 


The Governor appreciated the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio for announcing adequate contribution by the State Government towards the corpus fund of the Rajya Sainik Board for the next five years. He stated that the contribution will go a long way in improving the welfare of ex-servicemen in the State of Nagaland.


Agendas for the 23rd Annual Meeting included Corpus Fund, Empanelment of Hospitals, Construction of State level Multifaceted Sainik Rest House at Kohima and Selection Board for appointment of Officers and Personnel Below Officer Rank. 


Speeches were also delivered by the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, GoC, 3 Corps and AOC-in-C, Eastern Air Command.
